Alex Qin
Hello hello! I’m Alex Qin and I’m your Vice President of Interact for the 2010-2011 school year. Let me just start of by saying that I am SUPER PUMPED for this year and I know that we will be able to accomplish amazing things this year! We have a great set of officers, a dedicated group of board members, and most importantly, amazing general members!
So, a little about myself: I like to sing, play saxophone, write, and hang out with INTERACT KIDS. I’m a junior at Mission so you’ll probably see me racing across campus with textbooks in one hand, my Blackberry in the other, and the occasional white hairs on my head. I can vividly remember my freshman orientation — walking around, looking at all the club booths and being somehow drawn to the Rotary Interact booth. I remember that during orientation, I put my name and email down for probably OVER 17 clubs, but after the first Interact general member meeting, I was hooked. Let me be honest… in freshman year, I was quite possibly the most AWKWARD person at school — I stuttered, had pimples, crooked teeth, and had funky hair. Becoming an officer in Interact was the major turning point in my life and it helped me become more confident, more outgoing, and less awkward (I’m still awkward… but I’d like to think not as much, heh). I’m crazy, I’m spontaneous, and I have a really annoying laugh from what people tell me, but if you see me walking around campus, don’t be scared to HOLLA at me!
Interact presents you with so many opportunities, whether you’re an officer, board member, or general member, and I encourage all of you to grab these by the reigns and make the most out of them. Interact is one of those clubs that has the ability to make a difference in your life as well as the lives of people all around the world. Many question the capabilities of a high school organization and the impacts it makes on the world on a global spectrum, but Interact is a testament to the idea that WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD! We’ve saved lives through our previous international projects such as End Polio Now, HydrAID, etcetera and we are truly making a difference in our local communities through our volunteer work.
Come to our meetings with an open heart and we’ll welcome you with open arms. What is Interact love?! Well, it’s the best kind of love there is. (:
